Recycled vases and more

A few years ago we tried an experiment, we place a sign on our walkway that said recycle vases and more. This was part of our commitment to recycle. We compost our greens and we send our cardboard to a recycling area in the town. We have retrofitted are floral coolers to use less electricity and have improved our lighting. We collect rainwater to water outdoor plants. However the biggest cost saving has been the quantity and quality of the vases that are customers have brought back to us. We average over 3000 vases and or baskets a year. This has allowed us to participate in sending out  the lonely bouquets, but more on that at a different time. So if you haven't told your customers that you'll take back their containers you're missing an opportunity. The only unhappy people are my wholesalers who sell me a lot less vases and baskets.

Since my first post on our efforts to recycle vases and more we have received an additional 112 vases and 25 large baskets, all in usable condition. So if you haven't told your customers that you recycle you're missing a great opportunity.
